Cerebral Palsy Resources

The following are support groups for families affected by cerebral palsy, and organizations associated with CP. Google alone has hundreds of CP support groups. You can connect with thousands of parents who know exactly how you feel. Someone else probably knows exactly how you feel each time you learn something new about CP, each time your child reaches a milestone, as well as each time you feel depressed or disappointed. This listing is not in any particular order, and does not constitute an endorsement by The Law Offices of Dr. Bruce G. Fagel and Associates, and we assume no responsibility for the accuracy of the website addresses.

KidPower (groups.yahoo.com/group/KidPower)–A support and information list for families whose children are mildly affected by CP. The group is family oriented, and the list does include a few adults with disabilities. The owner started this list because her son has mild right-side hemiplegia. This list is geared more toward adults; must be 18 to join. Founded in 1998; currently has nearly 1,400 members.

OurCPKids (health.groups.yahoo.com/group/OurCPKids)–For parents who have children with cerebral palsy. The list was created to discuss diagnosis, doctors, treatments, therapies, discouragements and victories. Founded in 2003; approximately 1,200 members.

Cerebral Palsy Moms (groups.yahoo.com/group/cerebralpalsymoms)–Created as a way to share the joys, heartache, lessons learned and experiences of raising a child with cerebral palsy. Group membership is limited to the parents of children who have already "officially" received a CP diagnosis. Founded in 2007; more than 500 members.

Parents of Cerebral Palsy Kids (groups.yahoo.com/group/parentsofcerbralpalsykids)–A place where parents and families of children with CP could find each other. Designed as a site for advice, encouragement, a shoulder to cry on, somewhere to vent or share wonderful stories. Founded in 2000; more than 600 members.

Cerebral Palsy (health.groups.yahoo.com/group/cerebralpalsy)–Provides support and information to parents of children with cerebral palsy. Site welcomes discussions on raising a child with CP, therapies, research, treatment options and other related issues. Founded in 2005; more than 200 members.
